To say that Derrek Benson has a hands-on business approach to residential design and construction would be an understatement. Derrek grew up on construction sites and perused the art of Architecture while working for his mother’s remodeling company as a young teen.

Derrek‘s natural business sense and ambition earned him a Bachelor of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-ARC) in 1993. Upon graduating, Derrek envisioned a more diverse Company that could meld Architecture, landscape design and construction. hence the name, Benson Design and Development Company, founded in 1995 after possessing a General Contractor “B” License.

Fulfilling his passion for the architectural design phase and build out allows Derrek’s main Philosophy and talents to combine architecture, landscaping, construction and Site requirements to create a unique, cohesive, integrated design all fueled by the client’s specific lifestyle.

Derrek’s hands-on approach enables him to take a very pro-active role throughout A given project, providing each client with his expertise from start to finish. He is the Anchor and visionary; from selecting the proper finishes to guiding the client’s contractor and consultants in order to fulfill his client’s entire vision.
